Successful Ignition of Ethiopia Lemi 10,000t/d Clinker Cement Production Line
At 10:18 a.m. on August 16th, Lemi National Cement Plc 10,000 t/d clinker cement production line contracted by Sinoma (Suzhou) was successfully ignited. Present at the ceremony were Dr. Buzuayehu Tadele, Chairman of the East Africa Holding S.C., Cao Jianshun, President of Western Cement, Wang Fayin, Vice President of Western Cement, and Cheng Jin, General Manager Assistant of Sinoma (Suzhou) and General Manager of Sinoma International Ethiopia Subsidiary Company.
Cheng Jin first extended warm congratulations to Lemi National Cement Plc. He expressed heartfelt thanks to the Ethiopian government and the Owner's leadership for their strong support, and conveyed high respect for the hard work and dedication of all personnel involved in the project. He noted that Western Cement and the East Africa Holding S.C. are among the most important strategic partners of Sinoma (Suzhou). The successful ignition and commissioning of this project mark a milestone in their collaborative journey. Sinoma (Suzhou) will continue to uphold its work style characterized by "high standards, strict requirements, and strong implementation," striving to complete the remaining work, ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the production line, and achieving outstanding economic and social benefits for the project.
Cao Jianshun expressed heartfelt thanks to the Ethiopian government for its great support on the project and to the EPC Contractor, Sinoma (Suzhou), for its full dedication. He noted that the Lemi 10,000t/d clinker cement production line in Ethiopia is known as the "Star of Africa" with the most advanced second-generation dry-process cement production technology, achieving digitalization and intelligentization in the production process. It is the first 10,000t/d clinker cement production line on the African continent and will become one of the largest cement production bases in Africa. The line will provide high-quality products and services to the local building materials market, contributing positively to the economic and social development of Africa.
Buzuayehu Tadele indicated that the successful ignition of the largest production line in Africa marks a significant milestone in the development of Africa's cement industry, ushering in a phase of rapid growth for cement industry. The successful construction of the project is a result of efficient and high-quality cooperation between China and Ethiopia, serving as an excellent model for China-Africa cooperation.
Since the project's commencement on December 15, 2022, with the substantial support of company leadership, all relevant departments and the Owner’s on-site management team, the project team has made the efficient and effective resource allocation and work planning, accomplished the roofing of kiln inlet structure and kiln closure on November 26, 2023, and finally realized the project ignition, fully demonstrating Sinoma (Suzhou)'s outstanding capability in contract fulfillment by upholding the "Iron Army" spirit of the special ability to work under difficult circumstances, and effectively overcoming adverse factors such as local resource scarcity, logistics customs clearance delays, complex security situations, and the lower construction efficiency during the rainy season.
This is Africa's first 10,000t/d clinker cement production line with the world's leading second-generation intelligentization dry-process precalciner production technology and the world's most advanced intelligent control system. This project is the most intelligent, best-performing, and largest-scale cement production line in Ethiopia. The successful ignition and production will contribute to an excellent brand image and more opportunities for development and partnership in the international market, and play a significant role in driving local economic growth and infrastructure development.
